On Saturday, April 20, the art club held an art conservatory at the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. The conservatory helped raise money for the sloth bear. By promoting shirts, and plates all made by students.
“We got to do the sloth bear, which is really nice because we got to make really cool plates [before the event] that look like a sloth,” said senior Emily Aranda.
With this being the first year the event was held at the zoo, it was able to attract more people and the club raise more money.
“This year, we had a lot of traffic because we were right near the aquarium,” said sophomore Maryann Bautista.
This is the most successful year, as the club raised $3,000.
“One year we raised $2,500 [for the endangered animal], which was the biggest year up until this year,” said adviser Rebekah Pilypaitis.
Although art club is finished for the year, starting in August they will meet in room 218 on Thursdays after school. The club also went to go visit the sloth bear on May 8th.
