This year, math teacher Courtney Wattles helped make the cheer and dance uniforms more affordable.
Wattles danced as a kid and enjoyed it, so when she offered a coaching gig last year, she took it. This year she’s also sponsoring cheer.
“Uniforms this year were cheaper because we only decided on one uniform,” Wattles said.
Usually, both cheerleaders and dancers buy two or three different uniforms. They can make three to five variations from those. The cost of these uniforms depends on what they get (pom-poms, shoes, briefs, bows, shells, liners, shirts, dresses, etc.). The price depends on who they order it from (Varsity or Champion).
“Last year, uniforms cost were $1,200,” Wattles said. “This year is only 800.”
Uniforms for new cheerleaders were $597, and uniforms for new dancers were $400. Coaches and captains picked out the designs and conducted fundraisers.
“This year, dance decided to do the cookie dough fundraiser, and it went toward their jackets,” Wattle said.

Giselle, this single-source article was a good start. Thanks for writing it. I bet you can think of other sources to interview for this story to make it even more complete. Great work.
