Cinema club hosted by sophomore Maryann Bautista and math teacher Melinda Flowers as the sponsor is a new addition to after school clubs. Members of the club will be watching several types of movies and discuss them. Bautista wants to create an environment where people can talk about movies with ease.
“Cinema is something I’ve been very interested in, and I thought it would be great to have a place where students could discuss it together to share their interests,” Bautista said.
Bautista said that the club will cover award-winning and controversial movies. Another aspiration Bautista has is that students will enjoy as well as be inspired to go into film as their future career.
“We mostly just watch movies and talk about it a bit afterward,” sophomore and member of the cinema club Tahtianna Hollis said.
Every club has to have a sponsor no matter if the sponsor has or doesn’t have experience. This is Flowers’ first time sponsoring a club and she has discovered what it’s like an the experiences that come with it.
“This is my first time, at first when Maryann asked my I thought there’s probably someone out there who has more of a passion in this area, but this just turned out something that I’m gonna be involved in and I’m going to enjoy it I’m going to like hearing what the kids have to say about the movies and what their thoughts are,”Flowers said.
Cinema Club will have its next meeting December 12th in room 123. They will be meeting every month on the second Tuesday. See Bautista or Flowers with any questions.
