When you look at a photo, you are taken back to a memory, right? As I grew up, photos were everything to my family. You couldn’t turn a corner without seeing the flash of a camera.
One photo that sticks out more than anything to me is my homecoming photos with my grandma Fay. As I look at the photo, I see her bright energetic smile that could light up any room. She had no care in the world except to make sure that everyone else knew how loved and cared for they truly were. In the photo we both had on pink they were different shades. Mine being a hot pink long dress and hers being a baby pink button up with blue jeans, as we both looked directly at one another with smiles trying to hold back giggles. It’s the one thing that was always a constant, no matter if the day was good or bad. I chose this photo because this was my final core memory with my grandma. It had become a tradition since sophomore year to go up and see my grandma before any major events. It was what we have done since I was little. I used to complain, but as I got older, it grew on me that there was no getting rid of this.
As I get closer to graduation, I start to realize the importance of photos more and more, even the simple things such as taking a quick selfie with a friend. We all grow up and start to make choices on where we want to go and what we plan to do with our future. Sometimes going your own way means you can’t stay as close as you may have thought you could.
For my personal memoire, I chose a photo. Yes, it may seem like something simple, but as time goes on all the photos you may have seen as simple or even little will all show the memories. You now have a constant reminder of the good and bad by just one click of a button.
