Today, almost everywhere you go you see people on their phones and scrolling through apps and entertainment. Lots of people have different preferences and use different apps for different purposes. This is my personal list of my top apps rated by how I use them and how much I like them.
- Instagram: Sitting at the number one spot we have Instagram. Instagram is my ultimate app to share and catch up on all the music, movies, and culture that I love. Not only is it super easy to access and share content, but unlike other apps, it is easy to send messages and call others. Making your friends and relatives just a tap away.
- Spotify: At the number two spot, Spotify has a great range of not only music, but other features too. Such as AI generated playlists, though they annoy me sometimes by being way off from what I like. My favorite feature would be looking at upcoming album drops and their live countdowns. Despite the public frustration following their announcement to introduce direct messages, I personally am excited for the potential of being able to send my favorite songs and playlists with my family and friends.
- YouTube: YouTube will always be one of the greatest of all time as far as social media. YouTube started the peak of humor, and to this day it is the best source to watch sports highlights, movie trailers, music videos, and ASMR compilations. With the recent addition of YouTube Shorts, and YouTube Playables, YouTube is a beast of an app with an almost unlimited supply of different forms of entertainment.
- Netflix: It’s no secret that Netflix has some impressive, and attention-grabbing documentaries. Not only that, but they always have a new and refreshed line of funny movies and shows so I never know where to start. My only complaint is that my “Continue Watching” is super long and it’s hard to finish what I started watching when the movies and shows only stay for two or three months at a time. Currently my favorite show to watch is WWE Monday Night Raw, but I wish that Netflix had all the old episodes, not just the new ones. Other than that, Netflix is an awesome app with good sources of TV.
- Facebook: At number five we have Facebook, I’ll be the first to admit that its counterpart Instagram is definitely more hyperactive and it takes a while to process what you’re taking in. Facebook, in my opinion, it’s calmer and more relaxed and I definitely use it more for connecting with my family and not friends or celebrities.
- HBO Max: At six I have HBO Max and I refuse to put it any higher because they literally went and took all the original Flintstones, Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, and OG Cartoon Network shows off and have only the modern reboots that absolutely suck. This infuriated me because I still love my inner child, and I’d genuinely lock in and watch these cartoons to relax and chill. The only reason I don’t have it any lower is because at the end of the day, it still has an impressive movie lot and I can always find a good movie to watch.
- Amazon Prime Video: I honestly only use Prime Video to watch Spongebob, and WWE documentaries and I absolutely love it. If I watched more shows and movies on this then I would definitely have it higher, and I don’t have it any lower because I genuinely don’t have any complaints.
- Disney+: Like my Amazon Prime Video scenario, I only use Disney+ to watch The Simpsons, Silly Symphonies. I have no complaints about Disney+ except that I wish my profile avatar could be The Big Bad Wolf. Other than that, I enjoy Disney+, I just barely use it.
- Peacock: As if Peacock had nothing to watch as it is, they went ahead and took away all WWE programs and past pay-per-views. WWE is the only reason I have Peacock in the first place and they took it away. The only reason I don’t have it dead last is because soon they’re going to stream NBA and NFL games, and that might make up for the removal of WWE.
- TikTok: When TikTok first launched it was seen as the greatest app of all time, and because of the Corona Virus pandemic it soared and became phenomenal. I was among the people who were obsessed with TikTok too. Nowadays, however, I feel like it is a tumbler that regurgitates and mixes annoying songs and dances and throws them at the public repeatedly with every swipe, until they get sick of it and move on to the next dumb and annoying trend. If I hear someone tell me one more time that “Nothing beats a Jet 2 Holiday,” I am going to rage. The fact that some consumers go all out and absolutely devote themselves to praise things such as Labubus, Skibidi Toilet, and Mr. Beast Chocolate leaves me speechless. TikTok is single-handedly destroying a generation of kids with brain rot, and it disappoints me.
In conclusion, my idea of a good time on my phone can be seen way differently than other people. What I mostly prefer is watching shows and listening to music and my apps and ranks definitely reflect that. At the end of the day, as much as I love these apps, its important not to be glued to a screen all day. I always put time aside to hang out with my family and friends, go outside, and draw in my room.
