Last week was Super Bowl LX hosted at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, and it resulted in the Seattle Seahawks defeating the New England Patriots 29-13.
1The Seahawk’s defense dominated most of the game and only allowed the Patriots one touchdown super late in the fourth quarter.
The Seahawks had flow-state touchdowns and multiple field goals to keep the lead, helping them secure their second Super Bowl championship. The game had a few strong defensive plays and turnovers and had long periods of offense where no big plays were made. The game felt less exciting than most Super Bowls in which teams score up to almost 100 points.
The halftime show, headlined by Grammy award-winning artist and producer Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio “Bad Bunny,” was my favorite part of the event. Bad Bunny delivered a performance that was revolutionary from start to finish. He had a Puerto Rican setting and overall Hispanic theme that was absolute cinema. According to a press release from NBC, who owns the broadcast rights, the show pulled 128.2 million viewers in the U.S. I don’t care what President Donald Trump says about the show being “unpatriotic.” It was beautiful, and it spread a theme of unity. Bad Bunny gave a shout-out to every Latin American country, had their flags displayed and brought out the message that “LOVE IS STRONGER THAN HATE.” This was easily my favorite halftime show. Absolute cinema.
Now the commercials throughout the show pissed me all the way off. Almost all the advertisements were either about or made by artificial intelligence. What the heck is that? These commercials are supposed to be creative and funny and clever, not regurgitated and forced. I don’t care about no “future built by A.I.” I wanted celebrities, brilliance and consumerism! Not A.I., politics or Mr. Beast! One of the commercials I did like was Dunkin’ Donut’s parody of sitcoms, which had actors Ben Afflek and Alfonso Ribeiro making funny jokes.
Overall, the Super Bowl was okay, but not my cup of tea. I’m personally a Philadelphia Eagles fan, so I was happy with either team winning. I for sure got bored of the game, and the commercials only barely kept me up, but Bad Bunny’s halftime show for sure was my favorite part of everything. I give this super bowl a good seven out of 10.
