Junior Jaylon Walker and senior Antione Curtis are the first Bryan football players in at least five years to be recruited by D-1 schools. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), Iowa State University (ISU) and The University of Iowa all have eyes on the pair.

The collegiate programs are interested in Walker for his abilities as a running back and Curtis as an outside linebacker.

“Antione is the number five receiver for receiving yards in Class A right now and he has the size and ability to play in college,” head coach Tyler Johnson said. “Jaylon’s game has improved from his sophomore to junior year and his recruiting should continue to pickup.”

Johnson took the two on game day visits to UNL and ISU in September and plans on heading up to Iowa City later this season.

“I really liked the [ISU]stadium and the student section,” Walker said. “The players are way bigger than me and I now know what I need to work towards.”

While Walker has another year playing for the Bears, Curtis will be making his decision of where to go to college soon and these game day visits are helping him.

While official offers have not come in yet, Curtis enjoyed his visit to UNL.

“The fans there [at UNL] make me feel so welcomed every time I go,” Curtis said.

While there he saw the weight room and the facilities and met with coaches and staff.

“I really like the coaches and coaching staff they are super nice,” he said

Wayne State College (WSC) and Peru State College (PSC) have both showed interest in senior kicker, Danny Le. Le has a game day visit planned to PSC to see them play against Grandview on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.

He started to reach out to coaches after he had a school visit to PSC with counselors and his classmates.

“It’s a pretty nic

e campus, I saw the football stadium and thought how nice it would be to play there,” Le said.

Le is hoping to get a tour of PSC’s campus and the facilities they offer for athletes to see what game day is like for the students and athletes at PSC. Le has already applied to both schools.

Le plans to continue being on special teams and will try out as a kicker at the school he ends up with. He also hopes to play on a soccer league in college.
