Homecoming took place Oct. 18 with a “Fiesta” theme that brought the whole place to life. There was food trucks and music that had everyone dancing and having fun all night. It was all about school spirit, good food, and a vibrant Hispanic-inspired setup that made this year’s homecoming one to remember.
“I think the kids were pretty happy with it,” said student council sponsor Megan Streeter. “In the past, we’ve struggled to get kids to dance and be involved with homecoming, but this time more kids showed up and had fun.”
The courtyard was full of food trucks and decorations, giving everyone a spot to chill, grab food, and hang out with friends before going to the commons for the actual dance. The courtyard doors connected everything so students could easily move between the dance floor and outside.
“I loved how inclusive we were, especially with everything going on. I love how we were able to really show different cultures with homecoming,” said sophomore Eunique Baird. “It made me want to go even more, and it made me want to tell my friends to go too.”
Junior student council president Rocxana Velasquez Tomas also attended and helped organize the event.
“My favorite part would be the food trucks out there, because I don’t think they had that before. I really enjoyed the taco trucks outside,” Velasquez Tomas said. “I feel like that made people want to go, and a lot of people did choose to buy from there. Students took pictures, grabbed snacks, and enjoyed the lights and streamers, making the night feel festive from beginning to end.”
According to Streeter, kids were happy about the event.
“Honestly, it just felt like everyone was having a great time,” Velasquez Tomas said. “Seeing that everybody got together, dressed up, and had fun with each other made it even better.”
