Ordering food at the 80’s Snack Shack on Feb.7, sophomore Sophia Rubenstein greets owner Dulce Gomez. Rubenstein is a regular customer who enjoys the food and customer service. “I like how the staff there gives a family vibe, it’s not just like a normal restaurant. They treat you like famly,” Rubenstein said.

80’s Snack Shack owner Dulce Gomez, known as Ms. Gomez by most of her customers, believes that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  This is why they have started serving breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with new business hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“I think it’s important, especially for high schoolers, to have good breakfast to start their day,” Gomez said.
80’s Snack Shack’s new breakfast menu offers options such as bagels with cheese, eggs, bacon or sausage as well as breakfast burritos, iced and warm coffee, BLT’s and other sandwiches with the option to choose either egg, ham or peanut butter.

The breakfast menu is set up as a quick grab and go style. The food is already prepared and warm, making it easier for their customers to get their breakfast for the day quickly.

“A lot of people don’t have a lot of time in the morning, so they just want to grab something really quick, something healthy,” Gomez said.

Prices are also affordable so that customers won’t really have to worry about money. There are also discounts for military, students and teachers.

“Many people in our community have requested that from us like cops and teachers,” Gomez said. “You know they have a lot of things going on in the morning so they’d rather be close by, so I think that’s what made us [do breakfast].”

Students, like junior Kimberly Arciniega, are glad the 80’s Snack Shack is doing something new by serving breakfast.

“I’ve had their lunch and dinner and it was excellent, so I expect the same with breakfast,” Arciniega said.

Gomez thinks breakfast will be good for the community. By doing this she hopes this will better her business by attracting more customers from the school and elsewhere.
